The class teacher, Mathew Peter, was arrested following a complaint made by the pupils mother at Karu Police Station.
The teacher said he gave the whole class pupils work to do and warned that whoever fails to do it will be punished. “I punished the whole class because they are just nine pupils in my class and I beat each of them three days ago but this morning, the mother of one e pupils came to the school, my shirt and said I should w her to go and see what I did to her daughter; “he said.
The woman, Princess Chidi, said she actually went to the school to confront the teacher in order to let him know the gravity of what he did to her daughter because the girl has been down since that day.
“I only went to the school to let him know that my daughter has been seriously ill but when I held him, he started beating me, which was why I called the police to arrest him for assaulting me,”she said.
The teacher has been charged to court for alleged assault but the woman has decided to with-draw the case because people have begged on the teacher’s behalf.
Mr. Clifford Oike, the proprietor of the school, expressed disappointment at what happened at the school
HE said it would have been better if the woman had reported the teacher’s behavior to him instead of going to fight him
“I leave everything to the Almighty God and still hold on to the saying that teacher’s reward is in Heaven” “he said.
