The police have arraigned three men before an Abuja magistrate court for alleg­edly stealing a roll of wire belonging to Chelsea Hotel, Abuja.

The accused persons, Chudi Mgbedima, Martins Eneje and Obi Ferdinand of Chelsea Hotel, were reported to have committed the offences in August. 2009.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Umoh Inah, informed the court that on August 10th, 2009, one Ibe Celestine of Chelsea Hotel, Abuja, reported at the Central police Division that he was told by one of his security guards, Istifanus Enuch, that the accused persons stole a role of “castle wire” belonging to the hotel.

"You jointly stole a roll of castle wire belonging to the Hotel and the value of the item is not yet estimated,” the prosecutor added.

According to the prose­cutor, the accused persons committed the offences which punishable under sections 79 and 287 of the penal code.

When the content of the First Information Report (FIR) was read to the accused persons, they all pleaded not guilty, saying all the allegations against them are false and requested for bail which was not objected by the prosecutor.

Following the denial of the allegations by the accused person’s the prosecutor asked the court for a date for hearing to enable the police present evidence and witnesses in court.

In his ruling, Magistrate Bashar Attahiru Alkali granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 each, with a reasonable surety in like sum who must reside within the court's jurisdic­tion and swear to an affida­vit to produce the accused in court on the adjourned date.

The case was adjourned to October 5th, for hearing.
