Police quiz commissioner, LG boss over murder

The deceased was said to have been killed in Ota, Ogun State by yet to be identified persons suspected to be members of a gang of the factional group of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the area. Others invited by the police for questioning were Moruff Aiagba. Rafiu Bakare, Salisu Bakare and one Mr. Adeniyi.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police Hashimu Argungu told our correspondent in Abeokuta yesterday that the police headquarters had taken over the matter, saying the state command was no longer in charge.
A cousin of the deceased and former Commissioner for Agriculture in the state Waliu Taiwo said moves to have the case investigated by the police headquarters were prompted by a petition to the Inspector General of Police to have the case transferred from the Ogun State Police Command.
Efforts to speak with the commissioner on phone were unsuccessful before press time.
