The deceased, identified as Ramoni Balogun, was killed by stray bullet from policemen who said they were chasing an armed robber along the road while the victim was riding his motorcycle.
The other okada riders overpowered the policemen to burn their vehicle while several other vehicles were barred from moving on both sides of the road in protest over the killing.
According to information gathered from the Area Commander of H Division in the area, they received a distress call from the Owode-Onirin police post that some people were attempting to molest his men, but the timely intervention of other policemen calmed the situation.
He noted that from the information he received, it was learnt that the policemen were after a criminal who attempted to escape. He said the fire was not targeted at anyone other than the criminal who escaped.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital for autopsy while the family members have threatened to take up the case.
