GUARDS, ELECTRICIAN ARRAIGNED OVER STOLEN GENERATOR PART

The accused persons, Obiaha Ngozi Rawlings (a generator operator), Yusuf and Busy Asi Amba, both security guards, were reported to have committed the offence on January 25,2010.
Police prosecutor, Umoh Inah, told the court that on January 25, one Onwukwe Okwuonwa, the Chief Security Officer of Grand Square, reported to the police that when he reported for duty, he was told that the company's generating sets had been vandalized.
"One voltage regulator was removed from each of the three generating sets, while three of the accused persons were on duty on the day of the incident, thereby committing offences punishable under Sections 79, 287 and 196," the prosecutor added.
When the charges were read to the accused persons, they denied the allegations, saying they knew nothing about the missing generator parts.
Chief Magistrate Josephine Obannor granted each of the accused persons bail in the sum of N 100,000 with a reliable surety in like sum who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
The case was adjourned to February 18 for hearing.
