TWO motorists, Ogundale Abby and Femi Osunyomi were on Monday sentenced by an Abuja magistrate court to two weeks imprisonment each for attempt¬ing to bribe Federal Road Safety Commission officials (FRSC) after violating traffic rules.
FRSC prosecuting counsel, Barrister Rems Umeh told the court that, Ogundale Abby was making a phone call while driving his Nissan Sunny with registra-tion number XE 487 AKR, adding that when he was arrested by FRSC officials; he attempted to bribe them with money.
Barrister Rems further told the court that Femi Osunyomi was caught driving a Sunny Nissan car with registration number AX 787 KUJ without wearing seat belt and in the process attempted to bribe FRSC officials.
The accused persons pleaded guilty and begged the court to temper justice with mercy, adding that they will not do it again.
After their confession, Magistrate Emmanuel lyana sentenced Ogundale to two weeks imprisonment or to pay N14,000 as fine, while Femi was sentenced to two weeks imprisonment or to N12,000 as fine in alternative.
